My Birth Day!

I turned 48 on Saturday!

To celebrate Marc took me to my new favorite restaurant! If you ever come to visit me I can pretty much guarantee this is where we will take you to eat!

Someone was soo hungry they ate without me! SMH

Even though this is a buffet meal, its not your typical buffet. I started with a salad. Nicki would have been soo proud.

Cold Gabacho soup.

Roasted chicken with fennel, beef brisket, and waxed string beans.

I couldn't decide on dessert so I picked three! LOL

The view from our table for two.

Treats from my favorite store! Courtesy of my son.

Smell good from Marc's Aunt!

Quisha hung out with me for a while.

While Nicki (who had the nerve to be out of town celebrating someone else birthday) hung out in Miami! She did call and talk to me several times and was one of the first to wish me Happy Birthday!

Hydrangea plant from Marc, Quisha and TJ!

I had my cake and cupcakes too!

The best part of the day was all of the birthday greetings from family and friends!

I've done a bit of decorating this week. I think I finally have my end table in the familyroom set up the way I want it. Marc surprised me early in the week with the two houses you see. I picked up the centerpiece a few months ago thinking it would be perfect for my diningroom. It just never quite worked for me so I'm pretty happy now that it has a new home. I was surprised to find out it even has a miniature birds nest with little blue eggs hidden inside. I don't think I would have noticed it if I hadn't have moved it.

My country cottage theme has continued out into my foyer. This table replaces a really ugly medal shelf my husband had in the hallway. I'm sure I will tweak what's on the table over the coming months, but at the moment I'm just happy to have something pretty there!

Found these two shelves on Saturday for $5.00! Trying to decide now if I will leave them like they are for a bit of contrast or re-stain them to match my end tables.

Guess who's garden is growing? I can't wait to move some of them to the ground and see how they do. I have never been able to keep plants alive in the house. Hoping I'll do better with the outdoor variety. LOL

All in all I had a great weekend.

Sunday Night Mind Dump through the life of the PW (photo intensive)

Happy Resurrection Sunday! We had a great day of celebration at WABC!

Nicki in all her Easter Sunday finery! Quisha is out of town this weekend. She is spending her Easter break with my niece in Maryland.

Our Children's Church was busting at the seams (at least our seams). Our team did a great job during the Easter Eggstravaganza, and our teens were a big help also.

My hubby giving the Easter Sunday message!

Marc's twin sister and her children were there to celebrate with us!

After service we headed to an early lunch with my mom at Smokey Bones. Looking good mommy!

Speaking of looking good....since I'm suppose to lose some weight to help with my blood pressure my daughter Nicki had the bright idea of starting Zumba classes at WABC. We had our first class on Saturday. Y'all pray for me...I'm allergic to exercise so this is a big step for me! My idea of exercise is walking at Walt Disney World. LOL

This one is a exercise freak. She even brought me a shake cup, and is trying to convince me to drink some whey stuff! The first shake had chocolate in it. That didn't go over so well with my taste buds!

But the class was a big success so we shall see!

While we were setting up for the Zumba class our men were out in the neighborhood passing out flyer's for Easter Sunday. Afterwards they headed to Golden Corral for their bi-monthly men's ministry breakfast. Nicki had me on a strict diet of whole wheat English muffin and egg with cheese. Oh the joy!

After Zumba Marc treated me to some retail therapy...thrift store style! This lovely centerpiece was $5.00!

The floral plates were $1.00 each!

Look who else discovered thrift shopping. She found an almost brand new juicer for $10.00! She googled it and the retail price for this machine is $60.00! Not bad, but I have the feeling green grass juice is in my future!

I couldn't post without a baby update! Look at our baby. This boy changes every week it seems. And look at those dimples. We are going to have to beat the girls off with a stick!

This weekend is low key if you don't count the fact that it will be my 48th birthday on Saturday. Can you believe I have no major plans? I'm just going to chill that day. Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Sunday...here's to a great week!

Sunday Mind Dump (My Life as a Pastors Wife)!

So remember that schedule free week I talked about in my last post? Somehow I managed to fill it up anyway! LOL

Now granted it started with a visit to see this cute little fellow!!!!

It's becoming near to impossible to keep this one away from her namesake!

Event planning has taken a back seat to decorating this month. But I have to say I am very happy with my spring mantel!

Speaking of spring guess who decided to dabble in gardening? If you are a family member reading this then you are probably rolling on the floor laughing right about now. Only time will tell if anything sprouts! LOL

I did make my first ever batch of homemade guacamole this week. It may not look very good, but it tasted  really good! Next time I think I might try making it in the food processor.

There are canning jars stacked in my foyer, but I'm not trying my hand at canning (lets not go crazy people). The jars are for a project for our Women's Day Weekend. Think message in the bottle, or in this case...canning jars! LOL I can't wait for this weekend to get here. We have some great things lined up for our ladies weekend event. Including an awesome praise and worship leader, great facilitators and a dynamic speaker for our Sunday service. I don't think I have been this excited in a long time.

Friday night Marc and I had date night at church! Its not often (hardly ever) that we get to sit and enjoy service together so this was a treat. We went to hear some great music and a great word at an evening of Unity hosted by the Hamptonroads Ecumenical Council of Bishops. It was the first time we had ever heard Bishop Walter S. Thomas, but his message "I have to dance this one out" was memorable! He talked about how we as "Christians" have lost our ability to have moments of thanksgiving. That we know how to cry uncontrollable, but not how to celebrate. That when we take the time to think about what shoulda, coulda have happened to us that we aught to come in to God's sanctuary ready to bust a move! And that if you can't cry, sing, or shout it out you can at least dance! That it aught to get so good sometime that all you can do is dance, and you won't care who's watching! Yeah....it was good!

Speaking of celebrating! I have to give a special shout out to my girl Mary Elizabeth who turned 19 this week. Talk about having something to shout about. The doctors told my soul sista Kelli and her husband when Mary Elizabeth was a baby that she didn't have long here on earth. But God had another plan for her life! I can't think of a better reason to dance then that!

Today marks the start of a very busy week at WABC. Our children learned the story of Palm Sunday today, and next Sunday during the Easter Service our Youth and Children's Ministry will be busy with our Annual Easter Eggstravaganza! We have a staff meeting on Tuesday, and of course we will be cooking for Wednesday night bible study!

Last week Marc and the trustees met with the communities Civic League. There are plans for us to connect more regularly with them, and with the community in the future. As a matter of fact next weekend our Men's Ministry will pray together and go out into the neighborhood to connect with our "neighbors" and invite them to our Easter Sunday service (of course they plan to chow down at Golden Coral afterwards..lol). Marc's message last week about "It's Time To Get Dirty" is about to go into full effect at WABC!

This coming Friday....Good Friday, Marc has been asked to be one of seven speakers at his home church. They will be doing the last Seven Sayings.  Please keep him in your prayers. Saturday we start Zumba classes at WABC! OMG, I'm not sure what Nicki has got me into...but at least I will look cute in my new gym outfit! This week is off the chain busy, if anyone has some ideas for keeping this anemic girls strength up please let me know. Until next Sunday....have a blessed week! Oh wait....did I mention I celebrate my birthday in 14 days? If you follow me on facebook and twitter prepare for lots of  updates...because I've decided to celebrate the entire month!!!!
