A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes!

Its been years since we have had snow like this. Everyone who knows me knows how much I love snow, and how envious I have been of all of my friends who got snow over the Christmas holidays. Earlier this week the meteorologist in our area started talking about a major snow storm headed my way. I didn't believe them. As a matter of fact I said I would have to be literally holding the snow in my hand before I believed it. The closer we got to the weekend the more I started to believe it was a possibility. I went to bed last night praying for snow (yes, I know I have a sickness). I even dreamed about snow in my sleep! When I woke up I feared that my dream would still just be a dream. When I opened the window at 5:30 am this morning it took everything in me not to dance, shout and scream (sorry to those of you who follow me on twitter, that was my only outlet without waking up the entire house...lol).

So often our dreams remain just that.....a dream that we dream, but never pursue. Let's call that a dream that your heart makes. God created each of us for a special purpose. Those dreams we hold in our heart, many times are placed there by our father. This year I am beginning to see many of my dreams fulfilled. They haven't all come easy. Many of them I have had to fight to see come into fruition. Others came to pass that I never expected to be a dream of mine. Then there are others that seemed forever out of my reach, that have started to manifest themselves in ways I never even thought of.

Sometimes we have to release our dreams so that God can have his way. The surprising part in doing that is that when you release them into his hands he can do soo much more then you could ever imagine.

Pastor's Wives

My friend Lori offers great resources for women in ministry (especially us PW's) including opportunities to connect with other women in ministry who are living in this fishbowl we call life . You will love the virtual gatherings, and live chats. The Facebook group has just been added as another way that women can share praise reports, prayer request or words of encouragement with one another.

Never Underestimate God's Plan

My aunt would kill me if she knew this was up here. But she gave up her place at an event at her church to come and support and hear me speak. I think I even shocked her (I know I shocked myself)!

Wow, not blogging every weekend has been strange. I have loved spending time doing other things (like resting, working on a few projects for church, and resting some more), but I have to admit I miss not updating you every weekend with what's happening during my week.

I still feel its the right direction for me at this moment and time, in part because I'm busy helping set up our Children's Church program and two I want to spend more time focused on our Women's Ministry.

Last Saturday I spoke to a few of the women at WABC during our first Winter Tea. Honestly, I love doing stuff like this but I didn't want it to be the stereotypical "Women's Ministry Tea" (notice there are no hats or fancy teacups? Not that I don't think they have a place). I don't know about you but at this point in my life I crave just a bit more...........words of inspiration, a deeper connection with women, and an even deeper connection with God.

Just getting together for the sake of getting together doesn't always work for me. So this year we are adding a few things to our list. We will still do our "Girlfriend's Night Out" events where we just get together to fellowship, but we are also adding a Beth Moore Bible Study!!!! Can I get an Amen? I'm soo excited about this I can't keep it to myself (we are also headed back to the Women of Faith Conference in August).

We have a great noonday bible study going on right now and from everything I have heard our ladies are enjoying it. Coming out on Wednesday nights are hard for some of our older ladies, so this has been great for them. I'm hoping our Summer bible study will have the same effect with some of our younger women.

We had a great time at the "Tea". Great food, great fellowship, great prizes, and thanks to group publishing we had some great discussion (during the lunch portion the different hostess at each table used devotional kits with questions for the women to discuss). I even I made it through my "speech" without fainting. I know it wasn't me but God, because the old Cyndi would have been shaking like a leaf and would have probably passed out. I love it when he reminds me I'm not the one in control and that he has my back. If you had told me last year that I would be speaking I would have laughed. I won't make that mistake again. Take it from me...never underestimate God's plan for your life!

Few of My Favorite Things Take2

My oldest daughter Quisha had this bright idea to give us a "family" gift for Christmas.



This is Nicki and I cracking up because we had actually "guessed" weeks ago that it was a Wii.

Each of us was given a part of the game set to open. I'm not sure Marc even knew what he had in his hand. LOL

And as you can see by this picture ......."TJ" was thrilled. HAHA!

I put on a big smile, but in fact the thought of me playing with a game system seemed laughable. I've made it no secret that I am not a sports fan, or competitive by nature. So as much as I thought the game was a great idea for the kids to play with. I didn't see the benefits to my family as a whole. Until........I saw this (look below).

Marc loves the Wii bowling game. As a matter of fact he loves it so much that we have seen him downstairs more then I have seen him since he was sick a few years ago and was unable to get to his office because of the stairs (at one point he tried to hop upstairs not long after getting out of the hospital, but it backfired because it took so much effort he was to tired to do anything once he got up there. Plus, he realized he would have to come back down).

And then there is this one. She plays Wii with the intensity that she does everything else in life. The girl had us rolling over the holidays when she played the boxing game. Don't take my word for it. Just watch this. I wasn't sure where she got it from until I saw her dad in action.

I still have not touched the Wii. But next week we are suppose to get Wii fit and everyone has told me I will love it and that its good for me. The one thing I do love about Wii is how its brought my family together. If someone had told me a game system could do that I would have laughed. But now even I get the Wii commercial where they talk about how it creates a family bond. And that folks is why the Wii is one of my new favorite things!

These are a Few of My Favorite Things Part 1

1st of all I thought I was past the stage where children would be waking me up at the crack of dawn to open gifts. But Qui woke us up early to open gifts. Can you tell by my face how excited I am?

Each year for the last couple of years at least one of my kids has surprised me on Christmas morning with a gift I wasn't expecting. This year Nicki got me good.

It took me a minute to figure out what I was holding (add in the fact that I was in shock).

Then it slowly started to dawn on me!

Your looking at the proud owner of a Sony Book reader. If you know anything about me, I am a book freak. I have been a bookworm since as far back as I can remember. If its a good book I will stay up all night (until my eyes have literally rolled to the back of my head) to finish a book. At this moment I have a huge stack of books sitting on the floor on my side of the bed. Can you imagine what I can do with a Sony Reader? Its not a Kindle, but who cares! I actually have a few trips planned for this year, and I can't wait to load some books onto this bad boy (I already have a list of books, just need to recover from the holidays before I make any more purchases). So what did you get for Christmas? This is one of my favorites (actually everything I got this year would classify as a favorite) but I'm pretty laid back when it comes to the gifts I receive from people so it doesn't take much to please me.

Happy New Year

I can't get over the fact that its 2010! Today I'm taking down the last of the Christmas decorations. As I sweep out the old year (I'm in the mood to purge) I have been reflecting on what I would like to accomplish in 2010. My word for the year is "Determined". Not sure yet what that will mean for me, but I am praying for changes in the New Year in my personal life, at WABC and even here on my blog. I took a break from blogging the last few weeks to spend time with my family. It felt great! Marc took two weeks off from his "Day" job, and I got a glimpse of what it would be like to have him only have to do one job (that of a pastor). I loved it! I am amazed that God has provided the opportunities he has for us. I think Marc and I are still in awe of the fact that he is running his own business and that we are still making it daily. As a matter of fact this year he intends to cut one more day from work so that he can put a bit more time into WABC. Never saw that one coming! God is truly amazing.

The one thing the last few weeks has brought to my attention is that I want to do things differently in 2010. And especially here at my blog. I have enjoyed doing the Sunday Mind Dumps, but when I first started my blog it was mostly to document my life's journey and to share our daily/weekly musings with family and friends. So I have decided to go back to sharing our life as it happens, when it happens, and how it happens. I would love for you to stay, you never know what might happen. Granted it might not be anything earth shattering but I'm fine with that. I am determined to live life, to the fullest, with one foot moving forward at all times. I invite you to join me....who knows where the path may lead!

Sunday Mind Dump (through the eyes of the wife).

We have been so busy the last few weeks. Add in the fact that I have been sick with a sinus infection the last three days, I am a bit behind in my Christmas preparation. So I'm taking a break for a few days so I can play catch up. Until then you guys play among yourselves (I will be back Christmas Day with lots of pictures).

Sunday Mind Dump (through the eyes of the wife).

1) I know I say this often, but this week has been crazy, a bit sad, and in many ways joyful all mixed up together.

2) Early in the week we lost a very special lady.

3) Tuesday was sort of a blur, but because of all of the things on our calendar for this week I knew I needed to get a few decorations up before the weekend.

4) Actually most of the week was a blur. Marc had a heavy schedule and we even missed the luncheon with Senator Miller that we were scheduled to go to on Thursday. What happens to you when you stand up a US Senator?

5) I'm learning not to pout when Marc gets caught up at his job. We are very thankfully that God has provided a way for Marc to own his own business. Sometimes I just wish he had the ability to work full time at just WABC.

6) Mrs. Ellis funeral took place on Friday and the repast was held at the preschool my daughter worked at, which just happens to be our old church. Being there that day allowed me the chance to sit in on the going away party for her that the staff and students put on.

7) After the repast I traveled back with my mom to her home for the weekend. Early Saturday morning we got up to go on a bus trip hosted by her gospel choir to see a play.

8) The play was awesome, but the bus ride was an adventure to say the least. If you follow me on twitter or facebook you may understand why. LOL

9) We got back from the trip early, and somehow or another Mom and I ended up at WALMART of all places. Who in their right mind shops at Wally World on a Saturday? Good thing we were in the country because the place would have been packed if it was a Saturday night here in the city!

10) We were in WalMart to buy Poinsettias for the altar at my mom's church. Several members got off the bus and headed into WalMart to also get flowers. Pastor Dickerson brought the biggest plant in the store. Said people would talk about him if he came in Sunday morning with the puny one. LOL

11) Sunday morning I went with my mom to church but the girls picked me up right after service. Its been pouring down rain all day, and I probably would have stayed with my mom a bit longer if I had not made plans to be with our Marriage and Singles Ministry to see a play "The Gift of the Magi" at New Life Providence.

12) We had a great time and even took a few pictures after the play.

13) This week I plan to finish up my decorating and then start the planning for Christmas dinner. After much deliberation I think I finally have the menu down, at least in my head. One year we had an Italian Christmas dinner and then a Soup and Sandwich Christmas. Guess which one did not go over well?

14) I just looked at the bulletin for this week and after looking at all of the upcoming events, not to mention the fact that our Children's church starts in a few weeks and the Women's Winter Tea that I will be speaking at. Well lets just say I need to go to bed and get some rest. Its been a long week and weekend. Anytime I have to go back and correct my words over and over again its time to give it a rest (seriously I have dozed off a couple of times with the laptop in my lap).

15) Oops, final note. Did you notice the new picture? Just another peek at the Christmas photoshoot from a few weeks ago. Oh, and before any PETA supporters question me. No the coat is not real. Its just a very good fake! LOL

Mrs. Ellis

I almost didn't write this post. I try very hard to respect the privacy of the members of our church. But Mrs. Ellis was not just a member of WABC to my family. Mrs. Ellis passed away last week at the age of 99. I have known her almost my entire life. I called her husband (Deacon Ellis) Pop Pop just like all of his other grandchildren did (she was my aunts mother). He called me Little Mary after my mom. But Mrs. Ellis was always Mrs. Ellis. Not because I feared her or disliked her, but because I respected her so much. She commanded respect not because she asked for it, it was just the way you treated Mrs. Clara Ellis. She weighed less then a 100 pounds, spoke in a soft voice but as Marc said in his eulogy to her on Friday when Mrs. Ellis spoke everyone listened. Mrs. Ellis and her family are a big part of the reason Marc and I are at WABC today. She will be thoroughly missed, but she leaves behind a very strong legacy. By the way this picture was taken just a week ago. When she passed she was ready to go, no fanfare, no big explosions. Monday night Marc said goodnight to her and Tuesday morning she was gone. Ask anyone and they can tell you where Mrs. Ellis is today. Can we say the same thing if we passed away tomorrow?

Miss. Marquisha

Friday before leaving for my trip we buried a very special family friend. The repast was held at our old church. It just happens to be the same place that my daughter teaches. This week marked the end of her time at the churches preschool. Quisha has plans to do substitute teaching and if all goes well she will most likely go back to grad school to earn her masters degree. Friday the staff gave her a goodbye celebration and my mom, Nicki and I were there to see it. The picture of her with the folder in front of her face was taken when she read a card from the children. She did not want me to take a pic of her crying.

Christmas Trip

Had a great time hanging out with my mama and big cousin this weekend. We attended a play in MD called "Christmas Celebration". It was an awesome presentation including camels, horse drawn carriages, children singing, dancers and the story of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you are ever in the area you have to check out this place. My mom's church loved it so much that they have already started planning a trip for next year so that they can take the youth. Hopefully we will be able to take a bunch of WABC folks along also (I told my cousin to get ready to add another bus to the line up). If you follow me on twitter then you know that we had a crazy ride. There is nothing like a Baptist Bus Trip. LOL The church was pretty cool also. They offered popcorn and water while you watched the show (I called Marc and told him we need to invest in a popcorn machine at WABC for our family movie nights). Even if you didn't want to get up their "customer service reps" would bring the water and popcorn to your seat. My mom's pastor said if their church and WABC combined we might be able to pull off a church building like the cathedral.

Seeing Red

Thought I would give you all a glimpse at my Christmas decor for 2009. The little bit that I've actually got done. In case you didn't notice the ornaments are in a tray, not on the tree (the rest are in the attic). And the tablescape in the diningroom still has my other tablecloth on it (the Christmas one is still in the attic with the ornaments). Our schedule and the weather has put a major snag in our decorating plans. A few years ago this would have taken me over the edge and I would have been freaking out about the fact that we are only two weeks away from Christmas and I still have gifts to buy, cards to send out, and trees to decorate. I've come a long way baby. A sure sign of that was choosing red (red is my least favorite color, but for some reason it was calling my name this year) as the dominate color for my decorating scheme. I tend to go for the non traditional greens (lime), white, and yes even pale and aqua blue. As a matter of fact next year I'm leaning toward purple, pink and lime green. Yes, I tend to plan a year in advance. That way I can look for after Christmas sales and pick up the specific ornaments/decorations I will need next year (remember I'm the same girl that gets excited about Black Friday). My girls will probably love it (my husband and son not soo much). So dish....what colors do you use for Christmas?

Sunday Mind Dump (through the eyes of the wife).

1) Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas. We started putting a few of the Christmas decorations up last week. Nothing like the tree in this picture, but I can dream can't I?

2) This picture is one of the shots from our Christmas Photo shoot that we did after my friends Wedding Renewal. I thought I would give you all a peek of some of the shots. I won't reveal the one that will be on our Christmas greeting until the week of Christmas.

3) I spent the majority of the week cleaning out the rooms that the tree's will go in. I still have one more to clear out and then I will spend the majority of this week putting up the rest of the decorations. I know, I have a sickness!!!! Who else takes three weeks to put up decorations?

4) Thursday I had the best time hanging out with some great ladies. If you are a Pastor's Wife you really should check out Lori's "Leading and Loving It" blog. Thursday morning a bunch of us got together on tokbox for a virtual roundtable. I know that Brandi and Lori have some planned for the beginning of the year, so make sure you check it out.

5) I have a heart for women (especially Pastor wives who are struggling) and one of my dreams is to one day be able to host a Pastor's Wives Conference here in VA. I have been reading and listening to lots of messages lately about "dreams". At this point and time that is all this is, is a dream. But lately I have been feeling this need to write these dreams down. Not just in my heart, but in words on paper. So, there you have it....one day I will (not just hope) be inviting Pastor's Wives to VA for a time of fellowship, fun and rejuvenation!

6) Friday I got to spend some time with a few local minister's wives at a meeting for our Minister's Wives and Widows Alliance of Tidewater. Most of the ladies in this group have been in ministry longer then I have been around. A few actually knew my grandparents! They offer words of wisdom to those of us who now follow in their footsteps.

7) Saturday evening WABC ordained our longtime friend Rev. Rob, and he officially became the Assistant Minister to Marc. It was a beautiful service. Marc was the speaker and his advice to Rob was to preach! No matter what, preach the word that God has placed on your heart.

8)At the end of the service Marc presented Rob with a Bible, a Hymn Book, and several books that he said every leader should read, in addition to their bible (he also told Rob there would be a pop quiz).

9) Our friend Rev. Davis actually presented Rob with the hymn book. I thought he was going to preach. He put a new spin on a old traditional book that most churches do not use anymore (Marc had a time finding that book....he went to three stores before he found one). Rev told Rob that he would be surprised at the messages he might find in that book, the comfort those old hymns may give him in times of trouble. It made me want to go back and look at Marc's and I don't even like hymns. LOL!

10) At the end of the service the Catechize gave Rob a charge. The one that struck me the most was when he told Rob he had been placed at WABC to be the Aaron to Moses (meaning Marc). Basically he wanted Rob to know that he was there to have Marc's back. Then he told him that in time, one day God would elevate him to a Moses if that was God's will and then someone would become his Aaron!

11) Today we traveled to another friends church to celebrate their first year as a church and their Pastor's first anniversary as Pastor. I have to say Marc tore it up. His message was "Something to Shout About". I don't know what got into him this weekend but he was on all weekend. I love seeing him use the gifts that God has given him.

12) This week Marc and I (along with many more I am sure) will have lunch with one of our local Senator's. Senator Miller was actually at Marc's ordination so she is not a stranger to us. I'm just praying I don't fall on my face or suffer some other embarrassing moment. Events like this usually leave me speechless ( I literally have a hard time talking to people who I don' know)!

13) If all goes well I will go home to spend a few days with my mom. Last year mom invited me to see a play in MD along with several other family members. I don't have a clue what I am going to see, I just know its a Christmas play. LOL Good thing I love spending time with my family.

14) Sunday afternoon I will rush back here to attend a Christmas play with our Marriage and Singles Ministry. Needless to say I will probably pass out by week's end. Thus is my life! I have always said that my life is a series of events.

15) I can't be the only person attending a bunch of parties, installations, weddings, etc. What upcoming holiday events will you be attending this week?

Sunday Mind Dump (through the eyes of the wife).

1) We have had a fun week in the "J" household. I love this time of year.

2) Thanksgiving Day was crazy as usual (which has become a tradition for my family). My stepsister and her children and grandchildren joined us for Thanksgiving this year. Its the first time all of us have been together since before the death of my stepfather nearly three years ago.

3)I choose to chill this year and just take in the atmosphere and embed it in my heart.

4) Friday morning Marc and I hit the ground running and tackled the crowds on Black Friday so that we could begin our Christmas shopping.

5) We made it to ever store on our list although while I was in line at Target I did question what I was thinking.

6) That thought lasted about a minute. I'm actually one of those crazy people who actually enjoys Black Friday. To me it marks the beginning of the holiday season (I'm also the same crazy person who will hit the after Christmas sales).

7) We finished the majority of our Christmas shopping by 11 and I was back at home by 11:30 chilling on the sofa. Poor Marc was worn out. He spent most of the afternoon napping (at one point we both fell asleep on separate sofa's).

8) Saturday we attended the 25th Wedding Celebration of our friend's Peggy and Willie. It was a beautiful ceremony and the reception details were gorgeous.

9) One of our photography friends was at the celebration and graciously took pictures of Marc and I in front of the hotel Christmas tree. They came out great and will be the photo on our Christmas card this year. He also took pictures of my girlfriends and I (his wife Priscilla is on my left). Only three of the dress sale buddies were able to be at the party, but I think we represented well.

10) The fall decor comes down this week and the Christmas decorations start to go up. I brought a few items at Michael's this weekend to add to last years decor. I have this bright idea to hang wreaths from every window. Only problem is that I'm not sure how to go about doing that. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

11) WABC will be ordaining our Senior Associate minister on Saturday, and in two weeks Marc will ordain his first deacon since coming to WABC. Over the last couple of weeks Marc and I have been praying for WABC and its leadership and the hope that God will provide more team members to add to our ministry. There are several key areas in ministry at WABC that are in need of people to come in and help us move the ministry forward in 2010.

12) Speaking of 2010, today in his message Marc reminded everyone of all of the blessings WABC has received in the last year. He wanted them to know that though we may be small in number, we should never stop dreaming the big dreams.

Congratulations Peggy and Willie

Today Marc and I had the privilege of watching one of my best gal pals and her husband celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. So I wanted to send a special shout out to Peggy and Willie on this most beautiful occasion. We also got to hang out with two of my favorite girlfriends. We are all part of a very special club...The Dress Sale Buddies Club (we use to all sleep overnight in a van for several years to buy fufu dresses for our girls). Over the years we have formed a deep bond, which included our husbands, and children. We have laughed together, cried together, celebrated together and watched our "baby girls grow into beautiful young women. Two of the ladies from our "Dress Sale Buddy" group were not able to be here this weekend because of the holidays so I've posted some photos to share with them. Marc and I also took our Christmas photo for 2009. I'll give you a sneak peak on Sunday's Mind Dump.

Embedded in my heart

Thanksgiving was crazy as usual. Only difference this year was that I didn't pick up the camera to take pictures. Nope, not even once. Instead I sat an took it all in. Watched my family play, laugh, talk, eat, laugh and eat some more. Sometimes it seems like life is just plain crazy, you know the upside down, wonder how you got where you are and why you are where you are kind of world crazy...LOL! Sometimes I feel like I have been running a race with no destination in front of me, then I see my family (wacky as they are) get together and just love on each other. That unconditional kind of love that not everyone is blessed to have and I remember all I have to be thankful for. Thursday I just wanted to sit in the middle of all of that and take it all in so that when the bad days roll around again (and they will) I have not just a photo on paper of the good times....I have them embedded in my heart.

Thanksgiving Traditions

As much as I hate the word "tradition" when it comes to church (and then its only when we use tradition for tradition sake, without knowing why its "tradition". But I digress, and that's another story for another time). Some traditions are good. I think I start thinking about traditions especially around the holidays. I love celebrating the holidays (although many years ago I dreaded the holidays, and even went into a depression the closer we got to Thanksgiving and Christmas). A lot of my friends have already started putting up their Christmas decorations, but Thanksgiving holds great memories for me so I tend to hold onto it just a bit longer.

I still remember Thanksgivings spent with my maternal grandparents, my first year spending Thanksgiving with Marc at his parents home, our first couple of Thanksgivings in Germany, and now the crazy Thanksgiving meals at my mom's place.

My fondest memory of Thanksgiving was over twenty years ago while living in Germany. Marc always invited a fellow soldier over to have dinner with us. Most of them were young and single and were far from home. I miss being able to do that (we spend Thanksgiving with my mom who lives several hours away). I learned back then how to cook my first Turkey (thank goodness Marc was standing near by in case I messed up). He tells people to this day that he had to teach me to cook because otherwise I would have killed him!

To this day I make the same meal I made twenty some years ago (even when we go home, I make a Thanksgiving meal for us because nothing taste better then leftovers from Thanksgiving). Its become my "tradition". Not because I think I have to but because those memories remind me of all that I have to be grateful for. Thank you Lord for bestowing in Marc and I even back then the importance of family, friends, and the need to give back to others. So what's your Thanksgiving tradition? And what's a "must" at your Thanksgiving table (ours is Roasted or Fried Turkey, Sweet Potato Souffle, French String Beans with walnuts, Cornbread Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce and Macaroni with cheese)?

1) This is why I never let Marc take pictures of me (and yes, I wear a napkin like a bib, otherwise I would mess up half of my clothing)! LOL

2) Nicki and I took a break this morning from WABC to attend church with my son TJ at New Life Providence Church (our adopted church). This was the last day of their Month of Missions. This is when many of their missionaries come home to tell about their ministry.

3) After church I went home to fix dinner (yes, I actually cooked on a Sunday). My intention was to surprise Marc when he got out of church. Figured I owed him as much since Nicki and I bailed on him today).

4) The surprise was on me because when I called him he told me today was our Senior Ministry "Senior Recognition Day". This is the day we take our Seniors out to dinner and they are served by the "younger" members of our church. Guess that homemade dinner will have to wait until tomorrow. lol

5) Nicki took me over to meet them, but only after we had scouted out a few stores before the big "Black Friday Sales" this weekend.

6) Black Friday is a big day in this household. Its the one day Marc and I hit the ground running to pick out Christmas gifts for our family and friends (as I said last week, we do our personal gift shopping after Christmas, but we are big on giving out to our friends and family). WABC even has a gift exchange Sunday.

7) My husband has always been a big gift giver. He got it from his mom who had gifts for everyone (including a little extra in case a unexpected visitor comes along) to the point that her livingroom would be overflowing with presents. The first year that Marc and I were dating she even had a gift under the tree for me.

8) After all of the Black Friday shopping we will be coming back home to start pulling out the Christmas decorations. By the end of the weekend my fall decorations will come down and the Christmas stuff will start going up. I can't wait to start.

9) We gave out the Thanksgiving baskets at WABC today. I hear the team worked their socks off yesterday. Nicki and I had wanted to be their to help out, unfortunately a dear friend passed away this week and our family was attending her Homegoing Service while the volunteers at WABC were packing up the food. I heard that one of our members took some pictures. I can't wait to see them.

10) I met some great ladies this week at a virtual roundtable for Pastors Wives. It was the first time I have ever been on a webcam (plus I got to try out a Mac, thanks to my daughter Nicki). It was the coolest thing (meeting the ladies, not the mac. Not that the Mac wasn't great). I can't wait for the next one. I'm kicking myself now for not taking a picture.

11) I received an awesome package in the mail this past week. I won't name any names but I just want to say that this person blessed me in a way that I'm not sure many would understand. I love to read, and I am an information junkie by nature. Let's just say that I have enough books now to take me through the holidays (both of them). The part I loved the most is that this person seemed to know exactly what type of leadership books/information I would have gotten if I had purchased them myself. And they seemed to get that even though I am a women, that I would want to read the same things that most would have just reserved for a man in leadership. Thank you soo much, you made me feel as if I contribute something of substance to this crazy world we live in.

11) I probably won't post much this week because our schedule is kind of tight, so I want to take the opportunity right now to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. I have so much to be thankful for, including all of my great cyber friends. Happy Thanksgiving.

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Black Women's Hair

I don't know if you saw the Oprah episode where they were talking about "Good Hair" (the documentary by Kris Rock), specifically black women's hair. But I thought my "peach sister's" (hope I haven't offended anyone) might get a kick out of this post by Priscilla Shirer about hair. Oh, and if you want to ask me about my hair go right ahead.
