Outfit of The Day

Its been too hot to stand outside and take pics! LOL This is my outfit from last Sunday! The black maxi dress I have had for at least 10 yrs if not longer. The orange top is from Cato's and it is at least 7 yrs old! The sandals were a pick up from Payless at the end of last summer. Honestly the best time to pick up sandals; because you can get them for a song (you have to be at least thirty eight or older to get that)! LOL

This is my outfit from last Monday when we went to meet my mom to finalize plans for our family reunion! The green top is an old standby from Catos (at least 7 or 8 yrs old). Same with the plaid flats. The jewelry is from Catos as well. I picked them up on our way to Nashville last year (I kid you not...if I see a Catos while on vacation I have to stop, because each Cato's has something different to offer). Catos really is my favorite store to shop at! The bag is from Women Of Faith. I picked up a bunch of stuff on their website after the conference for half the price I would have paid at the conference itself. T-shirts, purse, books you name it! Again......I'm a bargain girl! LOL

Saturday Nicki had a consultation with a bride and immediately after that we had to attend a celebration at my girlfriends home. I haven't been feeling well lately, and the heat has not helped at all so don't know what I was thinking when I put on this t-shirt and maxi skirt! And this was after our Zumba class! Next time I will have on shorts! The t-shirt is just a plain t-shirt from Roses for like $3.00! The Maxi skirt was $12.00 from Roses, the gold sandals are from my cruise a few yrs ago (I got them in the cruise ship shop for like $7.00 bucks). The belt is from Charlotte Russe I think (yes, ladies I shop at Charlotte Russe, and Forever21). I rarely buy clothing at the "junior" stores but I will purchase their accessories! LOL

Sunday I had every intention of wearing a maxi dress, but after Saturday I knew another long skirt would not work! I love these Steve Madden sandals my hubby brought me and the earrings are a gift from my SIL! The bag is from my hubby. He brought a bunch of them for me to give away as prizes (I had to grab one) and the sleeveless ruffle top is from Roses (got it yrs ago for like $6.00. I also have it in orange, and white...lol). The skirt has these cute ruffles in it and its a skirt I have had for ages (at least 5 or 6 yrs) again.......from Catos)! Well, that's it in a nutshell. As you know I love fashion, but I'm a bargain shopper and that wouldn't change even if I had money running like water. And as you can see, most of my wardrobe has been in my closet like forever!!!!! And most of all it has to be comfortable!

4th of July

Patriotic Outfit

I don't like having 4th of July in the middle of the week! I couldn't seem to get it together and our family was all over the place! A few of us ended up getting together at church (with plans to hit the waterside for the fireworks, which never happened. It was just too hot). And somehow I ended up doing all of the prep and cooking! I was really not trying to go there since I'm the lead planner for our family reunion in August.

A lot of my plans seemed to have gone down the drain this month. I didn't make it to Kansas to see my friend Alida from Belize, and this week Nicki and I found out that my girlfriend had canceled a planned trip to NY at the end of the month! But that is ok, next month Marc starts his two week vacation from WABC and we will be going to Lancaster PA and Hershey PA. No ifs, ands or buts about it! LOL

Thrift Store Finds

Its been a while since I posted any Thrift Store finds. We have actually been pretty busy so not much of a chance to do any collecting, but here are a few things I have picked up in the last few months!

$2.25 each for the stands

99 cents for the globes, at a different store!

$2.25

$5.00 each!

$3.25 I think!

I don't remember the cost (I brought the flowers separately) but I didn't like the vase it came in. At some point I may change the flowers because I'm not feeling them like I did when I first purchased them. But I love the water pitcher! LOL

I think these were like $1.50 each. I love the colors of the glass and it smell great. Yes, I found "like" new candles at a thrift store! LOL

I love green, and I love garden theme stuff (can you tell...lol). Found these little cute teapot for $3.25. I plan to use it in my diningroom. At the moment I am concentrating on getting some stuff in my room organized and when it cools off again (its been in the 100's here) I plan to do some painting.

Celebration Station

Our opening and closing each night is held in Celebration Station! I snapped this pic of one of our babies dancing to the praise music on the screen! Nothing wrong with starting them out young!

Our skit crew continued to get their act together! HAHA

Nicki is just as a big of a kid as her dad is! LOL

Our youth learned about Team work yesterday!

Some had a harder time with this concept then others! LOL

The service project for the day was gift soaps with an encouraging message that will be given out to nursing homes when our mission ministry make their visits.

Our little people preparing to do a craft!

Marc lead a discussion on wants and needs, and what's more important then our need to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ!

Marc and I mentored Beth and our daughter Nicki during our Youth Ministry days. Now its really exciting to see them work with the youth at WABC!

Our adults and children getting into the closing program song! All in all its been a great week at Promise Island. I'm looking forward to tonight and tomorrow evening...despite the intense need to lay my head down at the end of the day! Guess you can call that a good sleep though! I love my role as a Women's Ministry Leader but this week took me back to my days as a VBS/Youth Director. There is just something about seeing the looks of curiosity on a kids face as they learn more about God's love for us!

Promise Island!

Our VBS Camp started off with a bang last night!

Granted, our actors had a couple of technical issues! LOL

But we broke records with our class sizes!

We even include a class for our adults!

We welcomed new crew leaders to the team!

Lots of interaction!

Including some stiff competition between the young and young at heart!

Add in some great decorations, and you have have a formula for a successful first day of VBS!

Tuesday Teaser

This past week went by in a whirlwind! And considering the number of summer storms we have had I'm not surprised!

This was Nicki and I last week after getting caught in a storm while at church. Thankfully I had a poncho left over from last years trip to Disney. Nicki grabbed a Walmart bag to cover her head. In case you didn't know it...sista's don't (can't) afford to get our hair wet! LOL SO a girl has to do what she has to do!

At least my outfit was cute! LOL

Between the rain and our schedule this past weekend there was not much time for shopping ( I really need to get to the grocery store) or much of anything else. I finally made use of a thrift store find Marc had picked up for me a while back. Originally I planned to use the shelf he brought to display my perfume, but thought better of having that much glass on the wall in a tiled bathroom. On a quick trip to the Dollar Tree I ran across these cute little containers in my two favorite colors. They were four for a $1.00 and fit perfectly on the shelf (plus they match the storage boxes in my bedroom that holds my jewelry). I have them filled with misc. stuff like hairbands, ponytail holders, lip gloss, etc that seems to get lost if they don't have a specific place to go.

Speaking of lip gloss...I picked these up from the Dollar Tree at the same time that I picked up the containers. I have been going crazy over the Elf Cosmetics line. Most products are no more then a $1.00 to $6.00 and most are pretty good quality. I'm especially loving their Studio Make Up brushes! You can order on-line or find some products in Target and Kmart stores (and for now a few things at Dollar Tree).

Saturday we attended a Scholarship banquet at the church. This is an annual event WABC holds each year to recognize the accomplishments of our youth and to honor graduates.

I wore my favorite colors, and piled on the bracelets (from Roses)!

I love this outfit (skirt, top and shoes are all from Cato's)!

Marc cutting up with one of the students! LOL

Sunday we had two services, so the hunt was on to find something comfortable (and cool considering the temperature). This dress (from Roses) I picked up a few years ago just before taking my cruise to Canada. I've had the purse (JCPenneys) a few years as well. And the shoes (Payless) which you can't see have been a part of my wardrobe for at least 8 years if not longer! As much as I love fashion (and shopping), most of my wardrobe has been a part of my wardrobe for years. I may add a new piece here or there every year but I may rotate a skirt with a new blouse, a new pair of shoes or jewelry. And if you have been following my blog for a while you know I never spend a lot of money on anything. I look for sales, and bargains and there is no shame in my game when it comes to discount stores. I'm not big on designer brands or big name stores and I look at designer items and can usually find a "inspiration" piece in its place.

Snapped this picture of Marc preaching Sunday afternoon at a friends church. I love to hear him speak. Don't be fooled by his face...he's not angry, just preaching with passion! LOL

Our VBS Camp was suppose to start yesterday, but we had to postpone because of the weather. A crazy storm seemed to come out of nowhere! There was hail, flooding, and further up in Virginia people lost power. My sister was still without power when I checked this morning. Today its in the 70's so I'm excited because this means our youth can go outside for recreation time. Stay tuned for photo overload if you follow our church on facebook! LOL
