Organized Chaos!

For months I have been trying to figure out how to get some of the clutter off of my counter tops. Not to mention tackle an overly crowded pantry (which I will show in a later blog post). A few yrs ago we brought this shelf to "house" extras. But after a while it became the catch all place and "graveyard" for appliances my hubby thought were neat but which I never (ever) used! As the girls have gotten older they have started cooking more and have added their own small appliances to my already overcrowded counter tops. When Quisha got her own coffee pot a few weeks (not to mention the juicer and blender owned by Nicki the health nut) I knew something had to give. So a few days ago I overhauled the shelf and gave a ton of stuff to goodwill. The shelf is still full but my counter top can breathe a bit more. Most of the appliances on the top shelf belong to the girls so hopefully when the day finally comes and they have their own kitchens I will have a tad bit more room (until Marc finds a new gadget).

I even had room on the bottom shelf to put my new bins from the dollar store. One is for onions, one for potatoes and the smaller one if for garlic. I have a third bin that now houses my plastic bags (and I've promised myself that when the bin is full all other bags must be disposed of). Actually I have a round basket also from the dollar tree filled with reusable cloth bags that I have now put in the car to hopefully be a reminder to use them rather then plastic bags. Of course I failed that test the first day I put the bags in the car. Didn't even think about them until after I left Walmart with plastic bags in hand! Yep, epic fail! LOL

Saturday when we went to Sam's Club to pick up a few things I saw the cutest containers for storing pasta, and cereal. I brought one set home, filled them up and immediately went back and got a second set. I leaning towards getting a third set just because they have worked out so well. Another area in sad need of reorganizing is my pantry. Its so bad I will probably never show you a before.

One of the issues is we buy in bulk, well that and the fact that my hubby likes to buy stuff without looking first to see if the pantry is already overflowing with those same products! I'm just as bad....hence the reason this container now has 7 boxes of spaghetti in it. But seriously, this one container holds seven boxes of spaghetti!!!! Now do you see why I love them?

Oh and each set was only $9.88!

I know I said from now on my Treasured Creations blog would have decorating post, but I'm still working some stuff out in my head. In the meantime my bedroom is slowly coming along as to how I want to set it up, including how my pillows on the bed will look. I have been fussing over these pillows since I got the new bed set last winter but I could never quite figure out how I wanted them on the bed. I think I finally figured it out! LOL

And the lamps I brought over the summer finally have a new home!!! You will never guess what the hold up was. "Light bulbs" of all things. We rarely buy light bulbs now that we use the energy efficient ones (which considering our last power bill I'm not so sure they are that efficient...lol)! Anyway, I'm working on a few projects including the pantry and a revamping of my scraproom which will soon be a craft/office space. And I promise to update with pics (maybe even a video or two) as soon as they are complete! Which knowing me may be a while...what with Fall Harvest, Revival, our 4 year anniversary at WABC...not to mention the holidays. Can you guys believe Thanksgiving Day and Christmas are right around the corner?
