We said goodbye to the family and left Alabama early (well not to early lol) Saturday morning and headed to Atlanta to meet up with my Disney friend Kelli and her family. If you've been reading my blogs for any amount of time you know about Kelli and I.
We along with a few other ladies became friends years ago through the Disneyboards. Eventually a few of us met in person and have maintained a friendship for years! We have watched each other's kids grow up. Some have gone off to college, gotten married. No grandbabies among us yet but that should tell you how much of a bond we have!!
Kelli and I connected from day one when we became secret sisters. The first time we met in person I'm pretty sure both of our husbands thought we had lost our minds! We actually met at Kelli's home in GA (2004).
Over the years we have become soul sistas! Our husbands call each other friends and our children know each other. A few years ago Kelli lost two of her children within the span of a few months. Unfortunately at the time Marc and I could not get to her and Mike during their time of grief.
I still find it hard to imagine the pain they have experienced. It had been five years since our last visit (which was actually at Disney for Kelli and Mike's 25th wedding anniversary).
When Kelli and I get together it's like we have never been apart. And although we only got to spend a couple of hours together on this trip I know it was exactly what we both needed. When I say we are soul sistas...I'm not joking. We have this unexplainable connection that could only have come from God above!! We don't talk everyday, as a matter of fact most of the time our communication is via text but it doesn't keep us any less connected! We are so connected that when we met on last Saturday we were both not only wearing stripes, but gray stripes!! I promise you it was not planned at all!! That's just how connected we are!
Our family has this wierd ritual...when we get together we eat! It's been our "thing" every time that we have met up! This time I got my first taste of Thai food (specifically curry). I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about it. I think it may be a required taste (at least on my part lol).
But when we get together as important as the food is, it's the company that keeps us going!
Speaking of food. After all that food we ate we had the nerve to do a slow stroll around the mall to three different sweet shops!! We picked up cookies, pretzels and cinnabuns!
I've never seen happier folks then us that day lol
As much as I love this photo, there are two people missing from this photo that are still in our hearts today. If someone would have told me I could have formed such a strong bond with someone I met via the net (over Disney of all things), I probably would have laughed. But like I said earlier the bond I share with this women and her family is nothing but a God thing!! And that is why we are "soul" sistas!!
